Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Lets You Be A Virtual Gunsmith

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) ends today, a mecca for thousands of avid video gamers looking into the latest video game titles, video game technologies, and of course look at booth babes. Nintendo already revealed their update of the Wii game console, but what interests us, and perhaps other airsoft players and firearms enthusiast is the feature of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier called "Gunsmith".

This feature took gamers by storm as they were massively impressed by the presentation made by Ubifsoft as they show the way how to do it right with Microsoft's XBox 360's Kinect which has been XBox's biggest weapon in the console wars as it takes away the joystick or controller and relies of human gestures, a notch up to what the Playstation and Wii can offer.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier "Gunsmith" allows you to configure your gun to fit various mission objectives. You can view the gun at various angles, and you can select accessories and internal parts to make your gun effective. The way the presentor demonstrated the feature, it reminds you of "Minority Report with all those gestures in the air retrieving information and organising them.

Configuring your gun is not limited to gestures, as you can rely on voice commands for the the game to configure the gunn for you, especially if you do not have the patience to customise the gun on your own. You can command "Optimise for Close Combat!" and the computer puts the together a gun fitting for CQB, and to surprise yourself, you can command "Randomize!" and the computer thinks for you on what rifle you would need.

It's really a cool feature as you can select all the parts from rail sysems, barrels. optics, launchers, colour/camo pattern and you can test fire the gun at the gun range. The presentor does a great job showing how you would fire the gun with Kinect, even how you can use the optics and magazine change.

If only the presentor wore some loadout, it would have been a different presentation altogether, in the theme of the game so we can also check what loadout the operators in the upcoming installment of the Ghost Recon video game series are using.

I haven't bothered yet getting an XBox 360 with the Kinect as I've been content with my Nintendo Wii but mainly I am a PC gamer. But with this feature, I might ditch the good old Wii and get the XBox 360 with Kinect just for Ghost Recon to experience it myself. Now, it's just the waiting for when the title will be released, and frankly I was disappointed with GRAW when I played it, it was too buggy that I never bothered finishing the game.

Here's another trailer of Ghost Recon Future Soldier to end this feature story. It surely would want to make you wait for this title:
