The Fun and Mayhem Start Tomorrow

All roads lead to Ringwood in Hampshire this weekend, in terms of airsoft events, even as there are various significant events happening in parts of the United Kingdom this weekend. But for airsoft players in the UK and the rest of Europe, it's the Groundzero Weekender 2010 event that they are looking forward to. And we'll be there again to cover it.

With around 1,412 players who have booked so far as of this writing, it is expected that this year will again break the record number of players attending Groundzero. The players are divided into to three groups namely: Bravo, Delta, and The Others. We're always in The Others, as it seems to be the most fun group to be in with all their antics, especially  the Battletec group from Guernsey.

Checking the Met Office weather forecast for the weekend, it seems to be good as it is expected that we may get light rain on Friday but Saturday and Sunday, the most important days as these are the actual game days, will be sunny. Nevertheless, the weather may change so prepare for some wet weather airsoft just in case. These past few days have been raining, so don't take your chances and bring something more extra clothes to keep you warm after getting wet in the rain.

This year's Groundzero will feature a car boot sale, to allow players who have used airsoft guns and gear to sell these to those looking for a bargain. Howevever, sellers are not allowed to use their cars to sell their items from, so those who intend to sell items should have some groundmat for them to lay their items on.

Surprises? I am always looking forward to what some players will wear during the raffle time on Saturday. In 2008, we had those Romans and Super Heroes with their "dolls", and last year, we had the "Jelly Bean Squad", so this year might be something different.

Depending on our mobile broadband connection at the venue, we shall try to tweet some updates and upload some photos. But don't count on it yet, we tried doing some live tweeting last year, but our phones got drained after just a few tweets with photos. The phones batteries went dead spending too much power getting proper connection and uploading photos at such a very slow rate.

Better put lanyards of those items which you think you may lose in the forest: pistols, magazines, torches, radios, and even your wallets (right, Masterchief?). Magazines should be labeled with your name for easier identification.

Over 1,400 players this weekend. That's a "target rich environment" as I always say whenever I go to large scale airsoft events. If you have not booked yourself or your team yet, today is your last day.

Let the fun and mayhem begin. See you all tomorrow.

Update: We'll be testing some review stuff tomorrow at the Groundzero. If you want to try these items just look for us near the tent as we'll be looking for some volunteers.
