FN SCAR In Multicam

During the first decade of the 21st Century, when the Crye Precision Multicam pattern and the FN SCAR rifles were introduced, I have always thought that they have are great pairing. This is perhaps due to programs that took place during the decade --  the cancelled Land Warrior system of the U.S. Army where some of their demonstration of prototypes show the Multicam uniforms and the selection of the Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifles which also got cancelled.

Both do look good when seen together and during that decade and into the 2010s, we saw a lot of airsofters with that combination. I always thought that if FN decided to release the SCAR rifles in Multicam, it would have been a perfect loadout, but during those years, they only released the series in Black and FDE colours, with the FDE the preferred choice for most Multicam users. Others did water transfer to their rifles to have the pattern on their SCARs.

A few days ago, the FN American announced that they are releasing the series in Multicam that cover the SCAR 16S, SCAR 17S and the SCAR 20S commercial variants . A little bit late but the Guccicam err…  Multicam community welcome the announcement since the option is there rather than doing applying the pattern themselves. They also feature the update of non-reciprocating, dual charging handles which is something the SCAR shooters have welcomed.

Tactical Life got a video about this update in 2021:

That new feature is something that we want to see in gas blowback or electric blowback airsoft version of the FN SCAR series for the same reason as the real steel user. Will the airsoft manufacturers work on Multicam SCARs in the near future? Perhaps if Cybergun, the licensee for the FN trades will require the OEMs  to come up with Multicam versions to update their own lines.

Text from the press release below:

The legendary FN SCAR® series, having roots in its battle-proven lineage, now features dual, non-reciprocating charging handles that enable users to shoot from any position or use any grip style. The benchmark of reliability and versatility with its three variants, the FN SCAR rifles are capable of consistent accuracy from their cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined barrels and one-piece forged aluminum receiver. They deliver precision fire with aid from their fully adjustable buttstock, low-flash gas regulator and fast-handling characteristics uncommon in similar rifle platforms.

The MultiCam® pattern is arguably one of the most popular camouflage patterns currently used by conventional and special operations forces worldwide. According to Crye Precision, the MultiCam® pattern was developed to effectively limit the visual and near-IR signature of a person operating across a very wide range of physical environments and seasons. After many successful evaluations, after being proven in combat, and after becoming the officially issued pattern of the U.S. Army for all Afghanistan operations in 2010, MultiCam® is the proven multi-environment concealment solution.
