In-Depth Look Into "Call of Duty: Ghosts" At The Pre-E3 Preview

OptimusPrime

Just a little clarification here for those who have been wondering why in the past days we have been writing about video games. This week, every video game publisher, video game console maker, video game developer has his or her eyes on the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Most of the anticipated video game titles will be featured during this Expo plus announcement of new gaming platform releases. But for us here at Popular Airsoft, we welcome E3 for the big announcements for first player shooter (FPS) video games which are a staple in the airsoft community.

One of the biggest FPS game title on E3 is Activision's Call of Duty: Ghosts being developed by Infinity Ward, and written by Oscar-winning writer, Stephen Gaghan ("Syriana"). In a pre-E3 show which allows game publishers to fully announce what they will be having the E3 floor, Activision's livecast brings into even further details of the game in Call of Duty: Ghosts All Access.

As mentioned before, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a totally new story in the Call of Duty franchise. And coming with this new story is a new game engine which will exploit the latest in video graphics technology, including the new generation consoles from Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's Playstation. One of the example of the game development using the new engine is the scene "Into The Deep" where is all underwater action and the underwater scenes really looked good. You get to see the Soviet/Russian APS Underwater Rifle in action for the second time in a video game and of course you might wonder about the weird-looking magazine for the rifle.

The newest introduction into Call of Duty, and perhaps the only link to Modern Warfare's Ghost, is Riley, the canine operator which does a lot of taking out of the opposing force and recon tasks in the game. So those who have been waiting for the reincarnation of Simon "Ghost" Riley in COD: Ghosts, can take consolation that Riley is an awesome dog in the game. A real canine was used for the different action scenes through the use of motion capture technology.

The sound track helps in making the story to be compelling. In this game, the USA is a superpower no more and Stephen Gaghan explains that the Ghosts are at a great disadvantage with no superpower to back them up. Still, not much of the story is revealed as to what led to these events, and why the Ghosts look like high-tech freedom fighters.

With the 8th generation game consoles coming out, we're expecting an even more immersive and perhaps even more improved 3D gaming capabilities as the new graphics cards are actually delivering more promise in 3D gaming. Now, we just hope that video game publishers and developers create "companion games" to these big titles that we can play on our mobile devices in between access to game consoles and gaming PCs.
