Day 2 At The IWA & Outdoor Classics 2014

What would be my biggest let down in Nuremberg is the free Wifi in my hotel. It's a spanking brand new hotel but once connected online, it takes forever to upload and post stories. This was the case where I had to cancel whatever online updating of Popular Airsoft and rushed to the Nuremberg Messe where they have better Wifi. I almost didn't get on time to the G&G's big activity on the second day of IWA & Outdoor Classics 2014.

The show had just got started when I got to the G&G booth where a product presentation on G&G's MARS System (Modular Assault Rifle), a product which seems to be almost everything except wash the dishes or fix your coffee. Also the G&G GSS, which is their version of the VSS Vintorez was also on display and comes with features that can easily aftermarket parts from G&G.

Also the highlights are the raffle draw of their free VIP Trip to Taiwan and the presentation of the award to the winner of the G&G Your Greatest Glory Video Contest 2013. Mathias Lönnström of Finland with his "Armament" entry bagged him the US$10,000 prize.

The G&G event was well attended by both the airsoft media and IWA & Outdoor Classics 2014 visitors.

A bit of a downtime with Dom after the G&G event, which also made us make rounds to schedule appointments with other companies. Jeffrey from ACE1 was in town from Hong Kong as he has an airsoft practical shooting shootout with Eric Grauffel, the 5-time World Practical Shooting Champion, together with Kim of Spartan Imports, at the Cybergun area.

Whilst waiting for the shootout to happen, we decided to grab lunch, and Jeffrey invited Mr. Frog CK Lee, the Boss of APS to join us and discuss the soon to be released APS CAM870 CO2-Powered Airsoft Shotgun. He actually showed us footage of other videos not seen online of the shotgun in action and we're massively impressed on what it can do.

Going back to the Cybergun booth and again waiting for Mr. Grauffel  to arrive for the shootout, we were able to discuss products from Maple Leaf at the Spartan Imports corner as they distribute Maple Leaf products. It was already past the scheduled shootout that Kim and Jeffrey went to the Cybergun mini range course to try and better their shooting times.

Still at the Cybergun area, we spotted some mock-ups of the Arsenal AF2011-A1 Double Barrel Pistol. Just recently, Cybergun got the license to manufacture their products for the airsoft market. Dennis Wittner, the R&D Manager for Cybergun, explained to us that indeed they are looking into having the AF2011-A1. No definitive answer on when it will be released since it will take more time to have this unique pistol developed for the airsoft market. The product from Arsenal Firearms that will be released for the Airsoft market will be the Strike One Pistol System.

It was already three o'clock when Eric Grauffel arrived. Dom and I decided to split up as I had to rush to our appointment with Real Sword in Hall 7A whilst he remained to take videos of the shootout. I thought I was late, but Helen Lin of Real Sword was just wrapping up her meeting. I took photos of the Real Sword Booth checking their already popular products such as the SVD and Type 97 series.

Real Sword are planning to be make a louder noise in the airsoft market this year, as in the past two years, not much has been written about  them, save for write ups about the presence at trade shows. Helen mentioned that they will be releasing a big batch of M4/M16 Gas Blowback guns by June 2014. They are targeting around 7-10 models for release and that means big anticipation for us in the following months.

For those who are waiting for the Real Sword SVD Gas Blowback version, we are sorry to break to you the news that the project is on hold.

We dropped by WE Airsoft Europe to check their new gas called NuProl which would allow gas blowback users to use their airsoft guns at colder temperatures. More information about this will  be revealed during the Airsoft Meetup which will happen later.

Next stop was the GHK booth which they are sharing with Strike Recon Union (SRU). But Mini of GHK was still tied up with some potential clients so we took time to discuss the products of SRU. Their designs are much well-received in the U.S. and now they have tied up with Sniper AS, the biggest airsoft retailer in Germany for the distribution of their products in Europe. On display were the SRU and Mafioso Arms GBB pistols; and before I forget to mention, their Rapid Deployment Bag.

Our last appointment for the day was with Modify Tech as Dom had a lot of questions to them ever since he last visited them in Taiwan in 2009. He noticed that there are various improvements to the Torus Gearbox such as tappet plate, piston, and the overall gearbox composition. Rocky, their engineer, explained that it is built to be more robust and can run smoothly up to 14.4v Lipo Batteries.

Jane Liu did a good presentation of the Modify MOD24, their first complete airsoft offering in the market. It is a very much a well-thought airsoft sniper rifle, and the first M24 airsoft rifle that comes with a tracer unit which is built-in to its 30-round magazine. Also, they revealed that more complete airsoft products, mainly AEGs, are now in the drawing board.

We actually finished earlier than yesterday. But work wasn't over for me and Dom as there was a long night ahead of more airsoft work such as finishing this report for your reading pleasure today.
