Crowdfunding A Docu On Lt. Michael Murphy, US Navy SEAL

Logan

Red Wing, a name that many airsofters that I 've met know about. There are even airsoft groups using this name, it is also the name behind the operation that cost the lives of US  Navy SEALs, US Special Operations Forces, and 160th SOAR when their chopper was shot down in Kunar Province in 2005. One of the fatalities was US Navy Lt. Michael Patrick Murphy, Navy SEAL, who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously.

In this link that was sent to us by Pistol Pete, there is an ongoing project to fund a documentary about Lt. Murphy. Called "MURPH: The Extraordinary Life of LT Michael Murphy, United States Navy SEAL" the project is now at Indiegogo.com awaiting funding from backers, the amount of US$75,000. But so far, the amount raised is US$8,740 as of this writing. While the initial stages of the documentary is being funded internally, when the main production up to post-production and distribution commence, their costs will go up and thus, they are hoping that those who appreciate the sacrifice that Lt. Murphy made is worth this documentary to provide the funds they need.

Indeed, for a man who went to great lengths to join one of the most elite military units, and fought for his country, brothers and family, this documentary should be worth the production that its proponents require. What they request is far smaller than what Lt. Murphy had given. Even the US Navy honors one of their own by launching in October USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) Arleigh Burke Class guided missile destroyer.

The documentary will be focus on the Lt. Murphy's life as told by his family, friends, and teammates. To explain his Congressional Medal of Honor Award, Lt. Murphy during a firefight against the Taliban who outnumbered his team of four SEALs. Calling for extraction, Lt. Murphy had to expose himself to get a better signal for communication, and while he was hit, he provided cover for the surviving members of his team in which they killed an estimated 35 Taliban members according to the bio of Lt. Murphy at the US Navy Website page of MOH awardees.

But time's running out, the campaign to fund the project will end of the 6th of July and still a long way to go. So if you believe that this project should continue, better donate the amount you can give, and spread the word around. It’s better to have this documentary be ready by the time of commissioning of the USS Michael Murphy.
