Critics Laud Zero Dark Thirty As One Of 2012's Best Films

Gungho Cowboy

It hasn't been released yet but it is already winning raves from movie critics, Zero Dark Thirty is a film that many, especially in the airsoft community, have been waiting for. It is said to be more anticipated than the U.S. Navy SEAL starred "Act of Valor", even with its realistic tactical movements, as Zero Dark Thirty is about the greatest manhunt in history and led to the death of the world's most wanted terrorist: Osama Bin Laden.

Film critics have been praising the film, which many say would be is set for Academy Awards wins, and its director, Kathryn Bigelow, is no stranger to winning Oscars, being the same director behind the critically acclaimed "The Hurt Locker" which won Best Picture and Best Director. Even one film reviewer, David Edelstein, says it's the top film of 2012.

With the Raid At Abbottabad going down in history books as one of the finest special ops missions successfully executed, Zero Dark Thirty is said to be more accurate than some books that have been written about the death of Bin Laden, with the writer given access to write first-hand accounts of the mission. This means approval at the highest levels, and for us, it is something that we want to watch if it can provide plausible answers to whatever nagging questions we have about the mission.

The build up towards 19 December, the official release date of the movie, whilst controversial, is leading to what we expect to be a healthy movie crowd which also means a nice Christmas gift to the producers of the movie for making a bet on a movie that liberals and conservatives will make their own interpretations. The torture scene is the most talk about this week, and said to be the best scene in the movie.

The film is said to be made in a very objective manner, but that in itself, will be debated on a subjective manner by those who will see it. Whether the ideological sides will claim the movie to support their own take on  the War on Terror, for many of us in the airsoft community, it is more about peeking into an important part of human history, apart from nitpicking about the gear and tactical equipment that the actors will use during the raid.

Will Zero Dark Thirty bring a 2012 to a close with a fantastic movie? We'll not know until it gets released. Please do bear in mind, that even if the film was made to entertain,  I'd rather suggest that whatever ideological bias you have, leave it at the door and try to watch the movie in a very objective way. You can make your own conclusions after you leave the theatre.
