(Editor's Note: We always welcome contributed stories by our readers from all over. These can be about airsoft reviews, interviews of airsoft players and businesses, airsoft events, and even about their own airsoft teams. This story is actually our first story that comes from Brazil and we thank Walter of the Cobras Airsoft for writing about their team and airsoft in their country.)

We are COBRAS Airsoft Team from Curitiba, a capital city from of the Southern Brazilian State of ParanĂ¡. The team is about 4 years old and currently we have 13 members, with ages varying from 25 to 40 years and who always have fun playing airsoft war games together. Our official uniform is the Canadian Army Disruptive Pattern (CADPAT) which proved to be an ideal camo pattern for our woods as well and we also try to maintain a standard kit among our "soldiers" such as three sets of t-shirts (Olive Drab, Tan and French Green) and a green tactical vest.

Our training camp is a hilly, green and a little rocky piece of land near Curitiba where we invite other teams to play in different scenarios and game modes. We have in town about 20 different organized teams and we play with them every other weekend; inviting them for our games or being invited by them! To keep it fair, we always play two rounds, inverting the attack/defend positions. We usually have an objective to improve the realism of the game, such as an empty air-water deployment cannon shell case or an empty ammunition box to be safely transported to a certain point in the field and a communications antenna to conquer different parts from the enemies and to be put together at a specific place.

Most recently, we built a Mortar to be used with fireworks that has to be defended from attacks. It also can "kill" enemies at each shot, by numbering randomly the members the opposing team. Then, the mortar shooter chooses a number among them to be declared HIT via radio by the game steward, who oversees the action. The player with that number then goes to the respawn area for 15 min. I have to say that it was awesome not only hearing the whistle of the rocket launching from the metal tube of the mortar followed by the boom in the air few seconds later but also seeing the smoke slowly dissipating by the mortar! This really gave it realism to our action!

Airsoft in Brazil is about 10 years old now and it is said to have started in Curitiba, with a team called G.E.A.R. that still plays among us, and thus, is the first Airsoft Team in the entire country.

We could have an even bigger airsoft scene and community in Brazil, but the price of AEGs in the country can cost more than 600% than the prices in the US, Japan, Europe or China! There is also a law that allows airsoft to be sold in Brazil, but it still that are still very fragile, as being only a special concession from the Brazilian Army. Nevertheless, high prices, the country is now experiencing recently a significant growth in airsoft players.
