The Blackwater Chronicles Preview At Comic-Con 2012

Gungho Cowboy

Blackwater gets to have its own graphic novel series under "The Blackwater Chronicles" to be created by Billy Tucci of Crusade Comics who is well known for the "Shi" comic book character and "A Child Is Born". Set to be unveiled at the San Diego Comic-con 2012 which will  be on the 12th to the 15th of July, "The Blackwater Chronicles" deals with the non-fiction stories of those who have worked for the infamous private military contractor.

Based on the book "Licensed To Kill" by Robert Young Pelton and with the approval of Blackwater founder, Erik Prince and the PMCs who worked for him, these are first-hand experiences of former operators from elite military units and law enforcement agencies who had protected American personnel in some of the world's most dangerous places. With the graphic novel series, Billy Tucci gives a more vivid illustration of the dangers that these admired or decried private security specialists faced.

The first book of these graphic novel series is called "Roll Hard", where Mamba Team had to make ten minute runs down "RPG Alley", and the 2004 Fallujah Ambush where four Blackwater members were killed, set ablaze and hung over a bridge. This incident led to the Battles of Fallujah where coalition forces eventually pacified the city in the Second Battle of Fallujah.

As reported by Majorspoilers.com, Tucci said that “Our book will journey deep into the psyche of these men. I wanted to find out why they do what they do… and the effects the experience has had on them.  Nothing will be left out, from the Front Page controversies to their daily silent heroics.  It is the most challenging work of my career, but I’m tackling it with a vengeance, as I’ve gained a great respect for these men who live a daily life of danger and their stories must be told.”

These series of graphic novel books may provide a much more understanding of the Blackwater contractors for taking up missions and tasks when those who are in official government capacities are unavailable to do. Whilst there are still things that need to be learned about Blackwater, from being first admired for providing a new model of private security services, to being made infamous by some actions of its members and the controversies surrounding their founder, an open mind is better suited to reading these series by than taking the stories as is, even if these are first-hand accounts who have been there. It is best to compare the stories of that will be put out and compared to "License to Kill" and other official accounts and books to come up with an fair evaluation about the company.

Some will say that this is an attempt by the Erik Prince to keep the Blackwater Legend alive, as the name is getting into relative obscurity with the Blackwater being now known as Academi. This is the latest project in which the Blackwater name is involved, starting with the Blackwater video game, which was not a success and had poor reviews. In airsoft, Cybergun licensed the Blackwater name to King Arms for the BW AEG series, and of course the Blackwater USA online store selling all kinds of tactical stuff bearing its name.

The first book of the "Blackwater Chronicles" is slated to be released next year. 1000 posters and 200 copies of the preview book will be given out during Comic-Con 2012. If you'll be there, you can find them at booth #1801.
