After a rather very long wait, players will get to play Season 1: Zero Hour of Battlefield 2042 starting tomorrow, the 9th of June as announced by EA and DICE. In the announcement, a new map set in the Canadian Rockies (Exposure) will be introduced for the All-Out Warfare and Portal modes. As also expected, a new character, Ewelina Lis, who is an expert in vehicle combat, will be included.

Apart from the new map and character, stealth helicopters called Huron and Hannibal will be made available.

The Exposure map will be tough since it is set in the Canadian Rockies, there will be vertical terrain to be traversed and the developers that there will be tight infantry combat to be expected. The map will have six hot spots starting from the base of the mountain and players will need to enter into tunnels, command centers and other areas in the mountain complex.

Ewelina Lis, is the specialist who belongs to the Polish GROM and she is armed with G-84 TGM that players can guide into hitting vehicles. As an armor hunter she can radar spots enemy vehicles as they come within range of the radar’s detection range. Her anti-air unit in the GROM is called 'Jastrzębie' (The Hawks) and she is the lone survivor.

New weapons are the Ghostmaker R10 Crossbow and the BSV-M Marksman Rifle and to have some air support, players can pilot the the RAH-68 Huron and YG-99 Hannibal stealth gunships or provide extra cover by laying down a wall of smoke using the Smoke Grenade Launcher.

The long wait was caused by the decision of the developers to delay Season 1 so they can focus on quashing the much publicized bugs that players complained loudly about. Season 1 Battle Pass is free to players but for players who want additional cosmetic items such as skins and melee takedowns, they need to the Premium Battle Pass.

EA and DICE say that players can expect greater stability, better balancing and improved handling for guns and vehicle.  For custom game mode creators they will have a more powerful editor and new preset and with Portal will bring back some vehicles and "experiences."
