2010 is not really a good year for Philippine-based airsoft players. They just had a long gun ban for their national elections which was 5 months, and another gun ban will take effect for their Barangay (village) and SK (Youth Council) elections that will happen on the 25th of October 2010. The gun ban will not be long this time, and the  ban will be in effect from 25 September up to 10 November 2010. It's just a bit over a month. But if you put the total, the Philippine airsoft community was able to enjoy airsoft games for 6 months.

However, enterprising players can store their airsoft guns at established airsoft game sites before the ban takes effect, as they are allowed to play in private properties. They can only get caught violating the election gun ban if they're found carrying their replica firearms and wearing uniforms while in transit to an airsoft game site when it's already in effect.

COMELEC (Commission on Elections) RESOLUTION No. 9019 which was issued last 31 August 2010 states that one of the prohibited activities are:

Carrying of firearm/deadly weapons, including wearing of uniforms, insignias, etc. (Sec. 261 (p), (q) and (s) as amended by Sec. 32, R.A. 7166).

This includes airsoft guns.

Explained further in Section 32 of the Philippine Republic Act 7166:

Section 32. Who May Bear Firearms. - During the election period, no person shall bear, carry or transport firearms or other deadly weapons in public places, including any building, street, park, private vehicle or public conveyance, even if licensed to possess or carry the same, unless authorized in writing by the Commission. The issuance of firearms licenses shall be suspended during the election period.

Only regular members or officers of the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and other enforcement agencies of the Government who are duly deputized in writing by the Commission for election duty may be authorized to carry and possess firearms during the election period: Provided, That, when in the possession of firearms, the deputized law enforcement officer must be: (a) in full uniform showing clearly and legibly his name, rank and serial number which shall remain visible at all times; and (b) in the actual performance of his election duty in the specific area designated by the Commission.

For those unfortunate enough not able to store their airsoft guns at airsoft game sites before the election gun ban takes effect, they'll have to sit out. Lucky for those who have more than enough airsoft guns in their personal armories, they can just place their weapons at various airsoft game sites beforehand so they can play at diferent places during the gun ban.
