We have witnessed the releases of carbine conversion kits for the Glock Series in airsoft, such as those from AABB which based its kit on the HERA Arms Glock Carbine Conversion, and the Magpul Folding Pocket Gun, a more discreet conversion kit. With these kits, you get the pleasure of a full auto Glock gas blowback pistol in carbine form and give you a more stable shooting platform when using the Glocks for CQB games.

HERA Arms have their Carbine Pistol Extension (CPE) kit, which takes a 1911 pistol and gives it a carbine look. While there are no full auto 1911 pistols, the 1911 is such a powerful handgun that giving it a carbine look can help you aim at a target much better. The CPE, besides the carbine conversion for the 1911, allows you to attach more weapons accessories and a sexier converted 1911 as compared to the Glock Carbine Conversion.

Not much modification on the 1911 is required, with only the original grips and grip screws need to be removed for you to fit the 1911 into the CPE. Much more, longer barrels can be used and all AR15/M4 stocks can be installed. The accessories that come with the CPE are side rails, sling swivel endcap adapter, and front tube extension. For added capacity, a ProMag 40-round drum magazine for the 1911 .45 ACP can be used with it. It seems that with the drum magazine, an even better balance can be achieved. But if you don't dig drum amgazines, there's a long 15-round magazine available.

I wonder if AABB is already looking into making this conversion kit for airsoft 1911s, which I hope they would do since I prefer the 1911 pistol and giving it real cool look as a carbine. There's just no existing gas drum magazine for the 1911 airsoft pistol or even a 40-50 round long magazine. I just hope that any kit manufacturer would have one out very soon.

While the 1911 won't give you a full auto mode, unlike the Glock carbines, it's just a matter of preference for me. Release an airsoft replica of the CPE and you'll have me as one of the earliest customers.
