And The War Is On! Battlefield 3 Aims To Take Down MW3

FPS video gamers never have it so good in recent years with first person shooter video games with megabudgets have been spewing game titles that would overwhelm any casual gamer's senses, hardcore gamers in ecstasy as the realism and non-stop game play coupled with online multiplayer games helped these video game titles turn this into a multibillion dollar industry. Even Hollywood blockbusters don't come anywhere near the sales figures of some of the popular game titles such as Modern Warfare.

Thus said, there are two FPS titles that have been slugging out as top dog of the FPS genre: Activision's Modern Warfare series and EA's Battlefield. Both are extremely enjoyable games and massive online fanbase willing to go into flamewars debating which game title is the best. Every year, this cycle repeats itself, especially in the last part of each year.

Both games will be released with Battlefield 3 going ahead for an October 25 release while COD MW3 will be released on November 8. Both boast of much improvements in their gaming engines and more immersive graphics... more firefights, exploding buildings, vehicle targetting, and engaging stories.

We have already written about MW3 with its global campaign that will put some of the world's best special forces into action. Battlefield 3 puts forward its compelling gaming engine which is said to be the most realistic ever graphics rendition of the gaming environment. What we appreciate about Battlefield 3 is their focus on the PC as the gaming platform, as PC gamers like us here at Popular Airsoft, would be able to play online with up to 64 players as compared to 24 players for the gaming consoles. That's about a platoon versus platoon gaming, depending on how you define platoon-strength. Whatever, the online multiplayer game would surely be target rich. If the players appreciate Battlefield 3 which will be released ahead, MW3 would surely be given a run for its money. But then, it's hard to underestimate the MW series fans, even if "Black Ops", personally, was underwhelming that I spent more time playing Home Front.

EA is said to be going all out in promoting Battlefield 3, and analysts predict that it will be spending US$40 to 50 million in advertising to woo players from other FPS titles, with MW3 players specifically targetted. The early release date, ahead of MW3, means getting the jump on Active Vision.

Fans are even getting into the action with someone putting up www.modernwarfare3.com that redirects online visitors to the Battlefield 3 website.

It is a tough battle for EA, as the COD MW series hold the record in video game sales, but then for the FPS enthusiast, no title is the same, as he or she will get her hands on any FPS game with a compelling game play. What is important for both video game titles is to ensure that cheats are minimized, it not eliminated, as these are what drives online gamers crazy and frustrated.

We now have about less than 4 months of waiting, better upgrade your gaming hardware to maximize the gaming experience... and let the battle begin when these titles get released.
