On Airsoft Product Videos: When Expressions Say More Than Words

Logan

Early this week, I was browsing online to think of what support weapon to put on my shopping list. I've been looking at reviews and online videos of the G&P MK43 Navy, M249s, and MK43 Mod0/M60E4 from various airsoft manufacturers. The reviews were very much helpful but sometimes there are reviews by vendors which for me I don't subscribe much since at the end of the day, they're there to sell you what they presented. I still prefer independent written and video reviews that will  make me take the next step on making that purchase. The final one really is going to an airsoft store and hold the finalists on my hands to see which I will be most comfortable with.

I stumbled upon this video made by 2002nickname at YouTube, this is a video about the ASG US ORDNANCE MK43 Mod0 M60E4 which was uploaded over a year ago. I almost skipped it since there are other videos of the same AEG. Though what caught my attention are the three hosts named Dolphin, The Walnut, and H. Black (I can't tell who owns which callsign), seated with the box containing the AEG, and they might have something to tell me about this particular AEG. So I clicked the "Play" button:

I don't know with you folks, but I did appreciate how the presentation was done. It isn't exactly a review and it's more a walkthrough about the product. Blabbering about this, and blabbering about that, I have rather gotten tired of airsoft videos where presenters are more like snake oil salesmen (and women), or those bedroom reviewers who huddle in front of a webcam to record their take on an airsoft gun with nothing really to share, just to let the whole world that they have just purchased an airsoft gun. But then, it's a free world, no one can stop them from recording themselves, unfortunately.

The presenters didn't speak much, but their expressions show their glee about AEG, in particular the middle guy, who just reminds me of a chubbier version of Mr. Bean. It's more like a silent presentation, but you get what they want to show you and makes you focus on the product rather than the host. I cannot exactly put my finger on how to properly describe this presentation. I have to say that I am rather entertained by this.

Sadly, this is the first part of the video, 2002nickname didn't follow through with the Part 2. I makes me wonder how Part 2 would have played: some take down and performance tests with even fewer words, and more text to give an even better instruction.

At least for a change, an airsoft video presentation  that I will come back to view again. No gimmicks, no special effects, just a direct "let the product" speak for itself. If only this video went viral in the airsoft community when it was uploaded. I guess if 2002nickname have gotten more views for this video, he could have been inspired to finish Part 2 and even more airsoft videos. In my book, this is creative, I dunno in yours.
