Active Duty U.S. Navy SEALs To Raid The Big Screen In "Act Of Valor"

Logan

The legendary US Navy SEALs have been depicted in movies, too many of them to count. While all these movies reinforce the legend, nothing that is closest to the real US Navy SEAL has been done...until now. This time a movie has been produced about the group's missions based on a fictional story, but the actors are real US Navy SEALs, the tactics and weapons are also real. "Act of Valor" is the first movie that has active US Navy SEAL members acting it out.

The movie traces its origins as a US Navy idea inviting production companies to come out with a documentary of the SEALs; honor those who have fallen, and as a recruitment tool for future members of the elite unit. Bandito Brothers, a production company which already had experience working with the NSW won the assignment, and from there, it went beyond its initial objectives, and turned into a full length movie.

The story revolves around the task of the SEALs tasked to hunt down the mastermind of terrorist plot against the US after they rescued a CIA operative. The mission goes through twists in the plot as they conduct mission after mission.

The US Navy did not provide funding for those project, leaving the Bandito Brothers scouting around for investors in the film, and they eventually brought on board funders to bring it about the completion of this project. With the take down of Bin Laden, the film project became the fascination of the bigger names in Hollywood, as the interest in the US Navy SEALs went sky high, and everyone wants to cash in on the group (remember Disney copyrighting the SEAL Team 6 name?)

Since the actors in this movie are real deal operators, you can't help but compare their movements to other movies in which actors and stuntment were used to portray soldiers. It is said that the US Navy SEALs' training shows off as the movements are more fluid and realistic. However, since this is a movie based on fiction, there will be lines that would not be typically uttered in the real world of these operators.

The movie is slated for release on February 17, 2012, the President's Day weekend. Whether this date is US-only release or a worldwide roadshow, we don't know. But for airsoft players who are big fans of the US Navy SEALs, this is the chance to see them in action in the big screen, and you get to see the real operators without needing any access to a secret facility or security checks just to see them.
