The continued partnership between Tokyo Marui and Capcom with the Biohazard/Resident Evil video game series is about to bear fruit again. The Japanese airsoft company announced just announced that they will be releasing the SG-09 R Gas Blowback Pistol to coincide with the release of the Biohazard/Resident Evil 4 RE:4 video game which will be launching on the 24th of March 2023.

Biohazard/Resident Evil 4 RE:4 is a remake of the Resident Evil 4 which was released in 2004. The plot of the game sees Leon S. Kennedy, who first appeared in Resident Evil 2, on a mission to the rescue daughter of the President of the United States, Ashley Graham, who is held hostage by a group called Los Illuminados. The group is parasite-worshiping cult.

In this game, Leon S. Kennedy sidearm is the SG-09 R which will make its first appearance in the remake. This custom gun is based on the H&K USP, a pistol with a polymer frame that is highly reliable for durability and accuracy due to a conventional design concept. You can see on the right side of the slide that an etched marking "Kendo" which means this is a custom gun made by Joseph “Joe” Kendo, the brother of Robert Kendo, the Japanese-American owner of the Kendo Gun Shop of Raccoon City.

A silver slide is adopted, and a compensator is combined with a Picatinny standard under rail. The finger channel of the grip is also eye-catching. However, it seems that the essence of the customization of "SG-09 R" is not the custom parts themselves. The components look the same as those seen in the standard USP at first glance even after disassembly. However, after reexamining everything, including the shape and materials of the parts, and performing high-precision processing and reconstruction, it was reborn as a completely different product, not just a custom or remake.

"There's not a single part that I haven't touched. It's 'same but different'. If you don't survive this, you just don't have luck." Those were Kendo's words when the SG-09 R was handed to Leon S. Kennedy to remind himself many times by. It was not luck that made the difference between life and death at the last minute, but due to the SG-09 R’s highly precise customization.

When released, Resident Evil RE:4 will be playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. As for the Tokyo Marui SG-09 R Gas Blowback Pistol, it is priced at ¥32,800/US$245 (excluding tax).
