“Lycoris Recoil”, the 2022 no.1 “Favorite TV Anime” ranked by the Japanese anime website AnimeAnime, will soon be encountered in the airsoft field as Tokyo Marui announced the development of Chisato Nishikigi's preferred weapon as an airsoft gas blowback right after a sequel for the show was revealed.

The collaboration between Tokyo Marui and “Lycoris Recoil” was first revealed during the Virtual Market 2022 Summer Edition. The Japanese airsoft company already has a long tradition of partnering with video game, manga and anime titles and developing airsoft versions of the weapons seen in these that are quickly lapped up by fans of these titles.

“Lycoris Recoil” is an anime show about an all-female taskforce of assassins and spies known as "Lycoris" and operating undercover from a café called "LycoReco".  They are usually given the task of going afer criminals and terrorists in Tokyo disguised as high school students. For the collaboration with Tokyo Marui, the focus will be on the preferred pistol by Chisato Nishikigi, a happy go lucky but highly skilled Lycoris  Agent, who helps manage the "LycoReco" café with Takina Inoue, another highly skilled Lycoris assassin with a more serious demeanor. Chisato is considered to be the greatest agent of the organization.

By the looks of it, Tokyo Marui already has the necessary components to build the airsoft version of Chisato’s pistol. Below is clear view of the characters in a box and for those who are familiar with gas blowback pistol made by Tokyo Marui, it looks very familiar:

Indeed, Chisato’s pistol is based on the Detonics Combat Master, a compact 1911 pistol and Tokyo Marui already produces the Detonics .45 Combat Master Gas Blowback Pistol. Chisato’s Detonics Combat Master comes configured with a Strike Plate Compensator which looks the same as the compensator seen on the Tokyo Marui Strike Warrior GBB Pistol which has the same profile as the Tokyo Marui Detonics Combat Master. Just take the Strike Plate Compensator from the Strike Warrior GBB Pistol and put on the Detonics Combat Master GBB Pistol and voila! It’s Chisato’s handgun!

While the Tokyo Marui airsoft version will have the official stamp from Lycoris Recoil, it is not the first airsoft version. Fans of the show from the airsoft community have been doing their custom mods using the two mentioned Tokyo Marui gas blowback pistols as well as a complete one said to be made in China.

The Lycoris Recoil sequel was given the go signal last February 11, 2023.
