That was quick! When we watched the Tokyo Marui Marufes Online Part 9, we were looking forward to 2-part presentation --- the New Product Corner in which Deka and Irodori Mayoi reveal the new products and the Shooting Corner wherein Deka demonstrates the new products and even previously announced products via a shooting test.

For Marufes Online Part 9, it’s just Deka himself in just a single video and the product reveals are the AKX Gas Blowback Rifle and the Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS Gas Blowback Pistol. You can watch the video below in case you missed the livestream yesterday:

TOKYO MARUI AKX GAS BLOWBACK RIFLE

The Tokyo Marui AKX Gas Blowback Rifle is a variation model of the first Kalashnikov-based gas blowback released by the company, the famous AKM GBB. The base AKM has been modernized and customised with Tokyo Marui’s original design. The design makes it easier to configure the GBB rifle to suit the needs of the airsoft player such as the ability to accessorise the AKX.

The AKX is equipped with a 7-inch aluminium M-Lok handguard and it gives it a slim and compact profile. Deka says that whilst it is lightweight, it is perfectly rigid. Players can add 3 types of slots for the rail to suit their requirements which are optional parts. The 3-port muzzle brake is also made aluminium and it is exclusive to the AK. It is a also possible to mount a Knights Type Pro Silencer and a Tracer Unit.

Whilst the front sight has been designed to be integrated to the gas block, it still maintains the appearance of the AKM.

As for the receiver, it is made of die-cast Zinc with the top rail is attached to the receiver cover. With the railed receiver cover having backlash due to recoil/blowback effect, it is hard to maintain precision shooting with an optic mounted. What the designers at Tokyo Marui to prevent this is the center ring lock mechanism found at the rear of the receiver. Once the rail cover is put back after doing maintenance, turning the ring lock will automatically center the rail. With rail mounts, it is easier to mount accessories such as optics and other aiming and lighting devices. At the rear backup sight is also moveable so it can be out of the way when an optic is mounted.

The fire selector has a large call out for easier operation to switch between fire modes as well going back to safety.  The magazine catch is a two-way system making it easier to handle so it be operated whilst holding the pistol grip which is their own design and is similar to the M4 grip. The slim stock is made of reinforced plastic, making it strong and lightweight. To fold the stock it is lifted and swung lightly with a sling mount located at the hinge area of the folding stock.

They also made a new Bakelite-style AK gas magazine and is made of die-cast aluminium. The AKX can also use the Tokyo Marui AKM gas magazines.

Internally, it is the same as the AKM engine. The bolt which is operated by the piston which is 9mm in diameter generates strong recoil. As for pricing and release date, they haven’t been decided yet.

After explaining how the production works for those looking forward to the SAIGA-12K and if the AKX might be released ahead of it or not depending on completion of development work, Deka briefly mentioned the collaborative project with Lycoris Recoil to produce Chisato’s handgun as an airsoft gas blowback pistol.

TOKYO MARUI GLOCK 17 GEN 5 MOS GBB PISTOL

TM G17 GEN 5 MOS

The first gas blowback Glock pistol from Tokyo Marui that is optics ready will be the Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS GBB Pistol. The Glock 17 GBB pistol variations from the company are popular so they might as well jump to making the MOS (Modular Optic System) configuration.

There are differences between the Gen 4 nd Gen 5 Glock 17s, with operability with the Gen 5 during shooting has been greatly improved. Serrations have been added near the front end of the slide and the center part is more rounded to make it easy to holster. For the pistol grip, there are no finger grooves making it clean design. Backstrap is changeable for the shooter to find a comfortable grip.

The magwell has been widened for easier magazine insertion. A lanyard ring is an added touch by Tokyo Marui for those who want to attach a lanyard to it.

With the MOS, Tokyo Marui developed a new engine since in order to mount an optic as it is not feasible with existing gas blowback engine. With the blowback, the optic is still able to maintain zero.

The gas magazine has a different shape and the follower is coloured orange. Deka says it has a new structure and reiterates that they are adjusting compatibility of their gas blowback series.
