SIG Sauer M18 Sets MHS Reliability Standard

The more compact version of the new MHS pistol of the U.S. Army, the M18, just set the new reliability standard. In a press release by Sig Sauer, it has successfully completed a Lot Acceptance Test during the MHS Material Reliability Testing, with zero stoppages. The standard version MHS, the M17, has an official airsoft version from SIG Sauer and made by WE Airsoft. Press release below:

Failure Of The XM17 MHS Program?

The U.S. Army's selection of the Sig P320 as the winner of the XM17 Modula Handgun System still got its critics even if the GAO has already upheld the decision and rejected the protest filed by Glock, the losing finalist in the bidding. Army Times: GAO Rejects Glock Protest

It looks like the final hurdle for the Sig Sauer P320 to be the official sidearm of the U.S. Army has been cleared. According to Army Times, the GAO rejected the protest filed by Glock for the winning bid on the Modular Handgun System (MHS)... "The Government Accountability Office has denied a protest from firearms manufacturer Glock that sought to have the government reconsider its award of a 10-year, $580 million contract for the Army's new handgun to a competitor.

U.S. Paratroopers To Test MOLLE 4000 Ruck

U.S. Army Paratroopers are about to test the MOLLE-4000, designed to replace their existing rucksacks according to Army Times... "Paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division found their two options for rucksacks either too small or too big. So the Army has created a new design that's just right. And while they were at it, Army officials were able to lighten the load and make the rucks easier to access, without having to de-rig.

U.S. Army Testing Tracking Point

Blog writes about recent developments regarding the new Tracking Point Technology, which enables existing rifles to become Smart Rifles, making sure that when the trigger is squeezed, the technology makes all quick calculations to ensure that it hits the mark. U.S. Army's PEO Soldier are now testing this technology for testing if it can be actually used in the battlefield, purchasing 6 units of the system.

New U.S. Army M205 Lightweight Tripod

Reported early this month, the U.S. Army released a new lightweight tripod for the Ma Deuce according the Army.mil... "In November, the 1st Armored Division became the first Army division to be fielded the new M205 Lightweight Tripod for Heavy Machine Guns, which is replacing the currently used M3 tripod for the M2/M2A1 and MK19 machine guns. The new tripod provides a strong, stable firing platform at significantly reduced weight.
