MC Airsoft observed that Shemagh has fallen out of fashion in airsoft over the years but he still recommends it as part of the kit as it does have its uses... "In this video we will be discussing Shemaghs, tactical scarfs, or whatever else they might be called. They have somewhat fallen out of favor over the years, but there are plenty of reasons to still use one."
