For countless fans of the iconic video game franchise, Halo, a dream has become reality. B Squared Mfg has unveiled a real-steel version of the BR55 Battle Rifle, a weapon that has an airsoft version and enjoyed by airsoft players for years. It is based on the BR55 Battle Rifle that is the standard issue rifle of the armed forces of the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) in the game.

The company's founder, a lifelong Halo aficionado, has poured his passion for the game into this project. His love affair with Halo began on a Christmas morning in 2001, and since then, he has logged countless hours playing the game, both at LAN parties and online via Xbox LIVE. Even after nearly two decades, the magic of the early Halo games continues to hold a special place in his heart.

This dedication to Halo culminated in the creation of the world's first purpose-built BR55. While there have been attempts to modify existing firearms to resemble Halo's weaponry, B Squared Mfg aimed for a more bespoke solution. Their BR55 is as close to a perfect in-game replica as possible, boasting a functional ammo counter that integrates with a "smart" magazine.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Halo fans. While other creators have posted videos highlighting modified firearms resembling Halo weapons, B Squared Mfg's BR55 is the first built from the ground up specifically to resemble its in-game counterpart.

Here is Garand Thumb with the B Squared Mfg's BR55 for a review on his YouTube channel:

The creator behind this project is not a professional engineer, but rather a self-proclaimed firearms enthusiast with a unique approach to learning. He views his collection of firearms as a mechanical library, frequently dismantling them to gain a deeper understanding of their inner workings. This passion, combined with nearly 15 years of tinkering with his own firearms, has equipped him with the skills necessary to bring the BR55 to life.

It's important to note that this is a passion project, not a commercial venture. The creator has no plans for a production run, as obtaining the necessary licenses would be a significant undertaking. His focus lies on sharing his creation with the world, not on turning a profit.

The BR55 is not a burst-fire weapon, nor does it fall under the National Firearms Act (NFA) category. It features a crisp, semi-automatic trigger that allows for rapid follow-up shots, enabling users to achieve a firing style like the in-game BR55's burst mode. This functionality is achieved through a standard semi-automatic trigger, not a modified automatic sear.
