Summer is over. School’s are opening, time to take out and brush those cold weather  coats. Beach Holidays are over, and time to think full time about work. This year’s summer season has been very good for us, as it is a summer we would prefer to bask in ever since the last really hot summer in 2006. It has been a summer that we’ve met friends often  during weekends and hitting the pubs and bars. A summer where we travelled up and down  the British Isles to attend to occasions of those we have not seen for some time. It is indeed a good summer, a summer which we hope would come back again next year. Long live the Glorious British Summer!

Indeed, it has a been a productive Summer Season for us at Popular Airsoft, where we have been out and about looking for stories that might pique your interest. There have been several events that we have been to, and we wished we could have covered more. But with pressing organisational concerns, we have to settle ourselves with what we can cover without overextending ourselves.

We would like to thank you for the very warm reception of our Volume 2 Issue 2 release, it has been one of our best issues so far, and we hope we can top it with even better releases. The responses from the readers have all been positive, and we can only give kudos to those who have helped put that issue into fruition, and that is, the men and women of the UFAC-Gulf Airsoft Federation. For the first time in the history of Airsoft, the Middle East has come into focus, and it has been our privilege to present the region through the eyes of the players in the region themselves.

Master Chief starts this issue with his short review on the Armourdillo Masks which are slowly being snapped up by players in Europe. Still a startup business, Lee Ellis takes careful time and attention to his masks to ensure that they withstand the gruelling sport of airsoft, and the quality of his products is one of the best of we have seen, comparable to the Takap Lupa masks. He then writes about his airsoft federation’s annual event, called the Gathering, which they have recently held their third year of running this event for Filipino airsofters in the United Kingdom.

Optimus Prime gives us a photo essay of the War and Peace Show 2009, with special thanks to Saicho for helping him take photos of the exhibits, people, vehicles, and mock battles that happened during the Show. Moondog then presents his Old School Series, with a Miami Vice themed event this time and he was there to manage the event in old style Miami Vice, wearing loafers sockless. Travis “Phridum” Barrett gives us his take on the Snow Wolf M99.

But this issue is more about Dom, who has taken time off from work to visit his mom in Hungary who is recovering from surgery, and still found time to do most of the reviews. As Optimus Prime said, we better call this issue “Dom’s Airsoft Magazine (DAM)”. He basically wrote almost 70% of what is published here, with the help of his ever dependable friend, Attila.

Dom also went to Taiwan to visit our friends in the local airsoft industry. Dom has always been a big fan of airsoft products made in Taiwan, and this has been a great opportunity for him to meet the makers and hear from them first hand. For a span of one week, he took time to commute all over the Island to visit the manufacturers, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Taipei. Lucky guy, most of us at Popular Airsoft haven’t set foot on Taiwan. Optimus Prime plans to go next time if he gets his chance as he has always been to Hong Kong.

Dom reviews for us the Game Face Verdict Marker BBs to see if they’re up to frequent use by Airsoft players. And his verdict? Read on... His next reviews were the LCT Airsoft AK Handguard, the Beta Project AN/PEQ 15, the Systema Revolution Gearbox, and the new Wei Tech SCAR-L Gas Blowback Rifle.

We would like to thank LCT Airsoft, ICS, G&G, VFC, KJ Works, Modify, SRC, and WE for opening their doors and accommodating Dom and his pesky questions. Special mention to Whistler Peng of SRC for taking time to bring Dom around, introducing him to the local airsoft community, reenactors, other airsoft manufacturers, and best of all, making him drunk. It has been a really great pleasure for us to be able to write something about the Taiwan Airsoft Industry, even in a small way for such a big airsoft business community.

With whatever remaining summer sun rays our bodies can absorb, we proudly release our Volume 2 Issue 3 of the Popular Airsoft Magazine.
