6mm Badger goes over the TacTeg GC-1, a motion-activated mine designed for airsoft applications by a company founded by a veteran and his brother. This device is constructed using 3D-printed components and is intended to release payloads such as impact or sound grenades when motion is detected. Its design allows it to be used in different scenarios, from tactical gameplay to simple interactions. The unit is priced around £100 and represents a change in how players can utilize electronic traps during matches.
The hardware features a rechargeable battery that powers up via a USB-C port and is managed using a remote control for arming. It includes adjustable inserts to hold various types of grenades and can be secured to environmental objects like trees or poles with hook-and-loop fasteners. When the device senses motion within a five to ten-meter range, a mechanical arm retracts to drop the grenade, triggering it upon impact with the ground. The internal wiring and components are accessible, allowing users to perform repairs or modifications.
This motion mine is intended for defensive roles, such as guarding flags or blocking pathways in competitive games. Site owners can also use multiple units to create different objectives for players. Future developments from the manufacturer include a larger model designed to accommodate more grenade types and function similarly to a claymore. 6mm Badger intends to document the device in action during future airsoft events to evaluate its performance in live tactical situations.
