Stupid Airsoft: RogueWorx 45° Fire Selector

A hands-on upgrade of the GHK G5 airsoft rifle by Stupid Airsoft, focusing on replacing the stock fire selector with a RogueWorx 45-degree version. He explains that while the original ambidextrous switch isn't terrible, the travel distance required to reach fun mode is a bit of a marathon for your thumb. To solve this, a vibrant red machined aluminum selector is installed to shorten that throw and add a splash of color to the otherwise dark receiver.

The installation process involves a bit of surgery, including some troubleshooting with tiny parts that seem to have a mind of their own. After navigating past a particularly long grub screw and a microscopic ball bearing that would love nothing more than to vanish into the carpet, the new core is dropped in. Stupid Airsoft admits to a small future mistake regarding the order of removal but manages to get the spring tensioned and the new red accents bolted down without any permanent casualties.

Once reassembled, the rifle undergoes a function test to ensure it still knows how to behave. The new selector clicks into place with satisfying precision, moving from safe to semi and full auto with much less effort than before. Despite some tight tolerances in the plastic receiver and a few BBs getting shy in the suppressor, the upgrade is a success, leaving the rifle looking sharp and the host ready for the next tactical adventure.
