I switched over to a battle belt some ten years ago, there great load outs for people that like to travel fast and light, And are really good at restricting the amount of gear that a person can carry. Compared to tac vests Battle belts only work out slightly cheaper though as pouches still have to be brought to add extra mags.

Battle belts are great for all year round wear as not having anything on the front and back allows you to stay much cooler in the summer without having to add an extra layer with all of your gear. There also better for feeling hits as most of your main target is exposed. However, like all gear stuck to you person battle belts can still block hit and it always pays to be mindful of areas you can not feel."
