The Gear Locker compares two carry handle Weaver mounts used for Delta CAR-15 builds: a reproduction from Shekkin Gears and an original from MGW. The Shekkin Gears version is a reproduction manufactured in China and is priced at approximately forty-one dollars. In contrast, the MGW mount is an original component from the eighties and nineties that is still available for purchase via phone order for twenty-nine dollars.
Both mounts share similar dimensions, including identical lengths and matching viewport alignments for the rear sight. However, they differ in hardware details, edge geometry, and surface texture. The MGW mount features angled corners and a smooth finish, whilst the Shekkin Gears version has ninety-degree edges and a grainy coating. The presenter suggests that while the reproduction serves international users, those in the United States can obtain the original hardware for a lower price.
