London Metropolitan Police: Appeal To Give Up Imitation Guns

OptimusPrime

This has been announced on BBC News yesterday, and finally posted at the BBC News website. The London Metropolitan Police has launched a campaign urging young people to hand-in their replica firearms, such as air guns and airsoft guns. This is in reaction to some gun crimes being committed by youths in the UK Capital against other young people. Though statistics show that the crime rate is going down in London, there is some rise in gun-related crimes and deaths brought about by young people able to source some guns and replica firearms being a "fashion statement for acceptability" among teenagers.

Some young criminals also use replica firearms in robberies and other crimes. But those who are confident that they have a specific "Defence" under the Violent Crime Reduction Act (VCRA) don't need to worry. Still caution should be exercised in transporting airsoft replicas in public places, especially in the dense metropolitan London.
