Alex from ANR Design reviews the Caracal CMP9K, an enhanced blowback SBR made in the UAE. He highlights its unique design, which uses MP5 magazines and features an SD-style handguard that fits over a suppressor. While it is a blowback system rather than gas-delayed, he notes it is one of the softer-shooting options in its class.
The firearm features ambidextrous controls, including a bolt release and an AR-style magazine release. Alex customized his build with an OD green vertical grip for better ergonomics and a different stock to improve the length of pull. He also emphasizes that the platform is compatible with standard AR-15 triggers, which he recommends as an essential upgrade over the heavy factory version.
During range testing in freezing temperatures, the CMP9K ran reliably without any malfunctions using standard brass ammunition. Alex concludes that while he generally prefers the MP5's roller-delayed action, the Caracal is an exceptionally accurate and "torture-tested" PDW. He plans to provide a more detailed long-term review after putting more rounds through the system.
