PSR takes a look at the RIX RNV-31, a dual-tube night vision system priced under $5,000. Whilst it uses Gen 2+ white phosphor tubes rather than premium Gen 3 glass, it features a lightweight articulating polymer housing, manual gain control, and an automatic shut-off function when flipped up.

He tests the unit at a range using a budget-friendly Extar EP9 carbine equipped with an SMS Trinity IR laser. Through shooting drills and navigation in the woods, the video shows that while the image is grainier than high-end sets, the goggles remain highly effective for target identification and movement in the dark.

PSR says that the RNV-31 is an excellent value for civilians looking to enter the night vision market. Despite some minor glass imperfections like chromatic aberration, the system offers modern features and dual-tube capability at roughly half the price of professional-grade alternatives.
