4MR Ranch: SMS Trinity Update

In this follow-up evaluation, Kyle from 4MR Ranch tests a third SMS Trinity unit to see if the budget-friendly laser can withstand the heavy recoil of a SCAR 17. While the internal diodes in this specific unit remained aligned and did not "walk" independently like previous versions, the overall system still struggled to maintain a consistent point of impact.
Despite being mounted directly to the monolithic receiver to eliminate handguard flex, the device experienced a significant zero drift of approximately 3.66 MOA after firing only 60 rounds. This suggests that while the internal components are becoming more stable, the mechanical housing or mounting interface still lacks the rigidity required for high-recoil platforms.
In the end, Kyle notes that with a sample size of three units all showing some level of inconsistency, the SMS Trinity remains a "get what you pay for" product. While its low price point is attractive, users should expect to perform frequent re-zeroing and manual adjustments if they choose to use it on anything more than a light-recoil rimfire or airsoft rifle.
