GMG: Not An HPA-Powered Airsoft Gun

Logan

Over at Firearms Blog, we saw this entry about gas machine guns (GMGs) using HPA tanks as their external power source. The latest about this is the fully automatic air machine gun, with the Epsilon .22 calibre prototype that will be able to take in lead pellets or lead round balls. Lest you might think that this is something that you can take to any airsoft game, they fire at around 600 to 650fps with reusable shell casings in a 50-round drum magazine.

We all know that airsoft power sources trace their roots to external gas tanks. But before you get an idea of using existing HPA-powered airsoft guns to convert them into air rifles, better think twice as you might cross the threshold where your airsoft gun might be considered a firearm or you would need a airgun license just to use it when you convert it.

This bullpup weapon is an interesting thing, especially with the drum magazine, as it can give you an idea of developing an HPA-powered airsoft gun using the same principle. Whilst existing HPA-powered airsoft guns use high-cap AEG magazines such as those developed by Daytona Gas Blowbacks and PolarStar Airsoft, there is no HPA-powered bullpup airsoft gun yet, and much more, a drum magazine to give you the high-capacity capability to go head to head against AEGs with their high-caps. You will just need to limit such airsoft gun to legally allowable limits in order to be classified as an airsoft gun.

Having an external source for powering an airsoft gun has that "snaking hose" drawback, but with MOLLE loops and pouches that you can configure to accommodate an HPA system on your loadout, you will minimize such an inconvenience. Check more about this product by clicking on the poster below:
