FN Minimi MK3

The FN Minimi light machine gun has carved a niche for itself as a symbol of unwavering reliability and battlefield prowess. Designed by the esteemed FN Herstal of Belgium, the Minimi has become the weapon of choice for numerous armed forces around the world, particularly within NATO.

FN Herstal, a company synonymous with innovation in firearms, has consistently pushed the boundaries of firearms technology. Recognizing the ever-evolving nature of modern warfare, they've unveiled an upgraded iteration of the FN Minimi Mk3. This latest version boasts an extended 23-slot Picatinny rail on the feed cover, allowing for the simultaneous mounting of two optics.

This extended rail space opens doors to a new era of adaptability for operators. They can now seamlessly integrate a non-magnifying red dot sight with a magnifying scope or pair a day optic with a night vision device, catering to the diverse needs of each mission. This modular approach significantly enhances the weapon's precision and dependability across a wide range of combat scenarios.

The FN Minimi Mk3 introduces a fixed flip-up rear sight, replacing the traditional adjustable variant. A new retention latch counterbalances the additional weight of the mounted optics, ensuring the feed cover remains open during ammunition loading and safety checks, thereby bolstering both safety and operational efficiency.

FN Herstal's commitment to user comfort is evident in the FN Minimi Mk3. This third generation LMG is celebrated for its unwavering reliability and boasts significant ergonomic improvements that enhance both maneuverability and user experience.

The gunner's comfort is prioritized through a five-position adjustable stock for length and a six-position adjustable cheek rest, guaranteeing a personalized fit. The weapon's recoil is effectively managed by an integrated hydraulic buffer, granting superior control. The bipod seamlessly integrates with the handguard and remains functional even with accessories mounted on the lower rail. Additionally, the ambidextrous cocking handle and the feed tray with belt retaining pawls facilitate single-handed loading.

The standard FN Minimi Mk3 comes with a 422mm barrel and is available in multiple configurations – a tactical model with an adjustable stock, a para model with a telescopic stock, and a classic version with a fixed stock. FN Herstal also offers an upgrade program for existing FN Minimi 7.62 users, along with a conversion kit that allows the weapon to fire 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.

This innovative rendition of the FN Minimi Mk3 is set to make its debut at the upcoming EUROSATORY defense and security exhibition in Paris-Villepinte, France, scheduled from June 17th to 21st, 2024.
