Ever since AR-style pistols, PDWs and SBRs have become a trend, we have been wondering if these can get as compact as technically possible, real steel or airsoft-wise. As far as we know, the most compact of these is the Maxim Defense PDX Pistol which we fell in love with ever since it was first on display at the SHOT Show 2019 in Las Vegas. Born out of a USSOCOM solicitation, the beauty of the PDX is that it can even fire other rounds apart from 5.56mm, such as the 7.62x3mm and .300BLK. Oh, we so wanted someone to make an airsoft version of this.

And we want it even more with the announcement of a Limited Edition COVID-19 Maxim Defense Pistol.

Not exactly something to use against the coronavirus as no bullet will be able to defeat a virus but in cooperation with John’s Sports Center, Maxim defense had the PDX get the Cerakote treatment or as they call it “Covid-19 Custom Coated” with a color called “Kick Virus Ass”. Only 100 pieces are being produced and as of this writing 95 pistols are still up for grabs. Each pistol will be numbered 001 to 100 and will be packaged in a limited edition box with a pair of latex gloves and facemask. They forgot to include a bottle of hand sanitizer to go with the package.

Price is US$3,499.95 and customers should allow 6-8 weeks before they get to receive their orders.

In the airsoft scene, we will probably see some enterprising airsoft stores and manufacturers which will be inspired by this custom build and make their own custom “Limited Edition Covid-19” airsoft guns which can be different types of airsoft guns ranging from pistols, carbines, bullpups, and sniper rifles. If something to remind us airsoft players of our patience and cooperation to keep ourselves and others safe under lockdowns and quarantines, we might want our own Limited Edition Covid-19 airsoft guns.
