It features a nylon design for both the upper and lower receivers. The upper receiver and the charging handle have a 2011 style whislt the magazine release is extended for easier manipulation, and the bolt travel is short, similar to a PDW design. The design is reminiscent of an MP5.

The MDP-9 is a bit like an H&K MP5 crossed with an AR-15: it uses the soft, roller-delayed blowback system of the MP5 and a tri-lug mounting system, but all of the controls and even many of the parts of the AR-9 and AR-15. However, at $2,700, this could be a tough sell.
