After realizing they were hopelessly outgunned by German MP40s and couldn't afford enough fancy American Thompsons, the British military decided to build a gun that essentially looked like a DIY plumbing project. Named after its creators and the Enfield factory, the Sten was made from simple metal pipes and industrial springs.
For World War II airsofters, reenactors and collectors, the AGM STEN MKII AEG is a good option and GM Tatico takes a look at one in this video. The AGM MkII STEN (AGM058) is a full metal, fully upgradeable AEG submachine gun, replicating the iconic WWII British STEN. Featuring a reinforced metal gearbox, detachable magazine, and FPS range of 300-350.
If you prefer an AEG instead of a GBB for a Sten airsoft version, AGM has a version available. Tom's Airsoft Channel checks out the AGM Sten MKII AEG that has been configured to meet German regulations... "The replica is almost entirely made of metal and has a slightly modified V7 gearbox. Since this weapon could only shoot continuous fire in the original, it is only logical that we have to operate it with 0.5 joules.

Bennett does a video converting the AGM Sten MKII into an MP28 in his kitchen workshop... "Part one/introduction to my AGM Sten MKII to MP28 build, I understand I'm not the first one to do this conversion but still, enjoy the video and the build. Like, Comment, and Subscribe. If you have any suggestions for the build I'd be happy to hear them."
