Outcasts Win Thunderstrike

Gungho Cowboy

A report filed by OptimusPrime, who is recuperating after a tiring weekend. Team Outcasts from Basildon, Essex win Codename: Thunderstrike Airsoft Tournament held last 08 November 2008 at XSite Airsoft, Buckinghamshire. The Outcasts won in a field of 7 teams that participated in the first ever tournament conducted by Popular Airsoft in the United Kingdom.

Under dark overhead skies, the event had several milsim scenarios that pitted the teams against the XSite Airsoft OPFORS, with teams K9, Ragtag, and Wildcats ITU advancing into the final round. In the final stages, Team Outcasts initially won third place against the Wildcats ITU, but when the championship stage commenced and under haphazard conditions (already too dark) and some violations of tournament rule as brought about by the conditions,  the championship game was stopped. After careful deliberations between officials of Popular Airsoft and marshals Xsite Airsoft, they awarded the Championship to Outcasts for sportsmanship, overall performance and attitude in the field. Team K9 came in as 1st Runner Up (second place) and Team Ragtag as 2nd Runner Up (3rd place) when officials reverted to overall scoring in the previous scenarios to select the runners-up.

Team Outcasts will carry the UK colours together with Teams K9 and Ragtag for the Rapier 01 World Airsoft Tournament slated in late 2009 in the Philippines.

Codename Thunderstrike was sponsored by Top Tech, Elite Airsoft Essex, Cactus Hobbies, RSOV.com, and Madbull Airsoft.
