Robinson Armament Company just updated their XCR family of weapons with the XCR-M that does away with the skeletal stock of the original XCR and replaced it with a folding stock. Also, the XCR-M was specifically designed for the 7.62mm NATO (.308) and the barrel lengths can be changed. Furthermore, it has created an online "design your own XCR-M" with their M-Builder, allowing you to configure the XCR-M that suits your needs.
This was not covered by the airsoft media during the Shot Show 2012, but there are some discussions in airsoft forums about this upcoming product from Crye Precision called "Spartan" a maxillofacial ballistic protection system, which of course, you now know where its name takes its inspiration from. If you haven't watched "300" movie, where have you been?
Electronic Arts (EA) announced in August that they will be releasing an iOS (iPad/iPhone Operating System) version of their Battlefield 3, and this month they made true with their promise, offering this for free to those who have been waiting for it. I was able to download a version, but our guys in the UK said that they cannot find it at the Appstore, so this means that the initial release will be for the US market.
An earthquake of 6.8 magnitude hit the central part of the Philippines, off the island of Negros, last 6 February 2012. Houses were flattenedd, roads damaged, and remote villages were buried in landslide. Rescue workers from volunteer organisations, local governments, and the Philippine Armed Forces are frantically digging out survivors from the landslide affected areas with the death toll now rising to 39 as of this writing with 88,000 survivors, 33,000 of which are left homeless after the earthquake struck.
More gun porn for this weekend, though with a focus on a rifle accessory made by Noveske Rifleworks LLC. There are still more products that were released during the Shot Show 2012 and no time to write about all of them. However, the Noveske NSR-11 Handguard just demands attention, and one positive thing --- this can easily get an airsoft version, much to our delight. So far, this still a soon to be released product and maybe available in the latter part of the year.
Thumpy's 3-D House of Airsoft, with its continuing Cyber-G watch, reports of expansion of Cybergun in the U.S. market, stating that they want to create airsoft fields, or convert paintball fields into game sites with designs based on their videogame line-up, such as War Inc. or Blackwater. Of course, the airsoft guns that would be used will be all under the Cybergun brand.
One thing that we can say when we posted reports sent in by the Airsoft Media during the Shot Show 2012 was the information overload that mere mortals like us would have a hard time digesting in our minds in one go. Sometimes, the best thing for us is to slow down, and take a hard look at some of the products that will soon be coming out with their own airsoft versions.
If you're a user of the Nike Special Field Boots as something to wear for tactical purposes or even for high street fashion, the good news for you is that you can make your own custom design of the footwear as it's now included in NIKEiD --- the customise it section from Nike. Previously it's more dedicated to other sneakers or products in the Nike shoe line-up.
As promised, not only the winners of the various categories, but some lucky voters of the 2nd Airsoft Players' Choice Awards have won the raffle prizes during the voting period of the awards. Without the voters, the largest online awards event in the airsoft industry would not happen. Our many thanks to the voters and this is our, together with our sponsors, of saying thanks to you!
After two months of narrowing down the nominees and then voting for the winner per category for the 2nd Airsoft Players' Choice Awards, we finally announce the winners in each of the categories. We cannot really tell the exact reasons why they won, only that each of the winners is determined to be popular among Popular Airsoft readers who have voted.
