Steyr Scout II

A popular bolt action rifle for those who play Counter-Strike FPS video game and airsoft via ASG (OEM Modify-Tech), the Steyr Scout now gets updated after 20 years since it was deployed during the Kosovo War at the end of the 20th Century. But before that some brief history as shared by Steyr Arms.

In the 1990s, a partnership was formed between Steyr Arms and Jeff Cooper, a renowned US Marine, rifle expert, and shooting instructor. Their collaboration led to the development of the Mannlicher Scout. Cooper had specific requirements for this rifle: it had to be less than one meter in length, weigh under 3 kg, and exhibit accuracy, reliability, and versatility.

The Mannlicher Scout was a groundbreaking design during its era. It was equipped with a forward-mounted scope, iron sights, a detachable magazine, and an extra magazine stored in the buttstock. These features made it an excellent choice for various hunting and shooting activities.

Fast forward to 2023, Steyr Arms introduced the newly designed Steyr Scout II. This rifle builds upon the success of the original Mannlicher Scout while integrating several modern features and enhancements.

The forend of the rifle now includes an M-LOK mount, facilitating the attachment of accessories such as bipods, slings, and lights.

The Steyr Scout II expands on the range of calibers available compared to the original Mannlicher Scout. It now includes .223 Rem., .243 Win., 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08 Rem., and .308 Win., making it suitable for hunting a wider variety of game, from predators to big game.

Other notable features of the Steyr Scout II include a milled aluminium housing and bedding block for improved accuracy, a detachable synthetic magazine with a capacity of 5 rounds, a 2-stage trigger or forward set trigger, a 3 position safety mechanism including trigger safety, bolt handle and firing pin lock.

As the company claims, it is more accurate, reliable, and versatile, making it suitable for a wide range of hunting and shooting applications. Its lightweight design and compact size make it easy to carry through various terrains. It is well-balanced for accurate shooting from various positions. Built with high-quality materials and components, owners can expect it to endure all conditions of hunting and shooting.
