Sig Sauer’s M17 and M18, successors to the M1911 and Beretta M9, were the first polymer-framed pistols to be widely adopted by the U.S. military. This marked a significant milestone in the history of military firearms.

The civilian market quickly developed a strong demand for these military-grade firearms, leading Sig Sauer to introduce the P320-M17 and P320-M18 variants. The modular design of these guns set them apart from other manufacturers, and they soon gained substantial aftermarket support, including a wide range of holsters.

Sig Sauer has now taken the M17 and M18 to new heights by incorporating the most advanced XSeries features. The M17X and M18X models are equipped with a factory-mounted ROMEO-M17 optic, an upgrade from their predecessors. This optic, housed in aluminum and featuring an aspherical glass lens, ensures zero distortion and is specifically designed for these pistols.

The ROMEO-M17 is fully enclosed and waterproof, providing protection against external elements. It is mounted using SIG’s patented SIG LOC system, which allows the optic to be positioned low on the slide while maintaining the rear sight for co-witnessing.

Both the M17X and M18X feature the XSeries coyote tan grip module, which includes an extended beavertail, aggressive stippling, and deeper undercuts for enhanced control. The grip module also includes a magazine well extension. The flat trigger of the X-Series is another feature of these new models. Each pistol comes with three 21-round magazines.

Building on the legacy of the M17, Sig Sauer introduces the next generation of tactical performance with the M17X and M18X pistols. The M17X is a full-size powerhouse, stretching 8.0 inches in length and boasting a 4.7-inch barrel that ensures exceptional accuracy. The pistol's coyote PVD finish and stainless steel frame embody a blend of robustness and elegance.

On the other hand, the M18X is a compact dynamo. With a length of 7.2 inches, it is perfectly suited for concealed carry or scenarios that require a smaller profile. Despite its compact size, the M18X's 3.9-inch barrel and 5.8-inch sight radius guarantee outstanding precision.

The pistols share common features such as a 9mm Luger caliber, a carbon steel barrel, and the absence of a manual safety. These shared characteristics underline the family resemblance between the two models and their shared lineage.
