Battlefield 1 Goes Back A Hundred Years Into the Past To Word War 1

Logan

Last week, the reveal of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare shows it going much further into the future, and it the future is shown to be in Space. For EA and Dice, the latest title of their Battlefield series is to take it back into the past. In this case, the setting is World War I, or an alternate World War 1 history, and going the opposite way, Battlefield 1 may have something over COD’s Infinite Warfare.

There has been some clamor amongst first person shooters in gaming forums of the need for another period FPS, though what they indicated was another World War II FPS, which Call of Duty was known for. But for Battlefield 1 going even further into the past, picking up a World War I theme, is such a surprise and actually got good reception from the media and players.

In the battle for likes and dislikes reveal trailers, as of this writing, COD Infinite Warfare has gathered 242,991  like and 967,322 dislikes with over 12 million views while Battlefield 1 has 881,571  likes and 16,539 dislikes with over 16 million views. It looks like Battlefield 1 will pull one over Infinite Warfare for the battle of the top FPS game this year.

The reveal trailer shows that the battles over land, sea, and air. For a change, players will get to pilot biplanes and battle against German triplanes, and over sea, do classic sea battles with dreadnoughts. The first generation tanks will be seen in battle as players experience trench warfare digitally, and perhaps some chemical or gas attacks. Zeppelins will also make their presence felt in the game, and making us more nostalgic about Red Alert where we last saw these massive dirigibles in action.

With the many first person shooter games being released being set in the future, such as Halo, Titanfall, Destiny, and now Call of Duty, the decision to have Battlefield 1 have a World War 1 theme is a master stroke.

Well know more information about Battlefield 1’s plot and gameplay over the months. One thing that Battlefield did not break from tradition is releasing earlier than Call of Duty. Battlefield 1 will be released on the 21st of October while Infinite Warfare will be on the 4th of November.

One thing we wish is that Dice has already ironed out the problems that affected the previous Battlefield titles and if they do, then they may have a better seller this time and better than Call of Duty’s offering.
