Will The “Expend4bles” Be The Last Big Gathering Of Action Movie Heroes?

Logan

Expendables 4

When the “Expendables” was first shown on the silver screen it was the biggest gathering of the biggest names of action movies. But over the next sequels, their ages are showing it since most of them trace their breaks into Hollywood in the 1980s and 1990s. In the latest installment of this franchise headlined by Sylvester Stallone, many of the original cast members have since left and it does need some new blood and it may then put to rest once in premieres in September 2023, or is it?

The movie is advertised with a not-so-subtle poster that reads, "They'll die when they're dead." Despite the underperformance and poor critical reception of The Expendables 3, the franchise was revived in 2021 with most of the original cast expected to return.

The film was first announced to be in development in 2014, but its production and release has been delayed several times due to several reasons, including the pandemic. The Expendables has always boasted a large ensemble cast, and the fourth film is no exception with Sylvester Stallone returning to the series after briefly quitting in 2017, with his in the fourth movie probably more limited as it be his last Expendables movie. Jason Statham also returns, with the film said to revolve more closely around his character Lee Christmas as is also reported to be based on a script proposed for a standalone movie based on Statham's character. The film produced for release in September is written by Kurt Wimmer, Max Adams, and Tag Daggerheart.

If another “The Expendables” movie is produced, it will be him who will be leading the cast.

Dolph Lundgren and former UFC champion Randy Couture rejoin the two action icons from previous films Gunner and Toll Road, respectively. The stars who are not returning for the fourth film are Antonio Banderas, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, Jean Claude Van Damme, Jet Li, Mel Gibson, Terry Crews, Wesley Snipes.

Appearing for the first time in the film series is Iko Uwais of “The Raid” who is cast as the main villain with Andy Garcia playing the role of a CIA agent. They are joined by Tony Jaa, 50 Cent, Jacob Scipio, Eddie Hall, and Levy Tran. Megan Fox is the female cast member with a prominent role.

The film is directed by Scott Waugh with Avi Lerner, Les Weldon, Yariv Lerner, and Kevin King as producers.
