The SIG MCX-Spear Rifle Is Finally Here

SIG MCX-Spear

The civilian version of the U.S. Army’s new M7 service rifle, which is the result of SIG Sauer winning the Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program, the SIG MCX-Spear rifle, is finally released and it is available in 3 variants and calibre options. This series of carbines is also distinct from the previously released SIG MCX-Spear LT.

Initially the first batches of the gas operated SIG MCX-Spear will be using the 7.62×51 and 6.5CM rounds. For those who are looking forward to firing the .277 SIG Fury round, which is the 6.8mm x 51mm round that will be used by the M7 rifle, they will have to wait a bit longer but definitely will be released.

The magazine type used by the rifle is SR-25 with the fore end and grip made of Polymer whilst the receiver is receiver finish is Coyote anodized. It is fully ambidextrous including the bolt catch and bolt release. The barrels are interchangeable, making it ready for calibre conversion, and it has integrated stainless steel QD mounts in the lower receiver for easy, secure attachment of slings.

Other features are the 2-position adjustable gas valve for suppressed or unsuppressed use; SIG SAUER SLH and SLX suppressor-ready QD mount flash hider; Matchlite Duo Trigger for a clean, crisp break; and folding 6 position Magpul SL-M stock. The accessory rail uses the M-Lok that is originally designed by Magpul.

Three variants are available, giving customers lengths to choose from: the 16” MCX-Spear, the 13” MCX-Spear SBR, and the 13” MCX-Spear Pistol. The 16” MCX-Spear already has its pricing revealed at US$6,189.99 and can be ordered from authorized SIG Sauer dealers. No pricing is available yet for the 13” SBR and 13” Pistol.
