MadBull SWR 6" Barrel Extension Wolverine

Operator7

MadBull Airsoft has done it again and brought to the Airsoft world some very nice SWR products. SWR is a small company that designs and manufactures real steel suppressors and small arms.So thanks to Madbull we now have a very complete range of SWR suppressors  made for the Airsoft market to to choose from.

What I'll review for now is the Wolverine, which rings nice to the ear among the SWR Suppressors of MadBull.

Now again, don’t go calling this a silencer, as I’ve said earlier, there is no such thing as a silencer. Well, only in Hollywood perhaps…

However this also not a suppressor since it doesn’t reduce or suppress any of the noise made by our AEG’s when firing. So it’s a nice barrel extension and a mock suppressor.

Nevertheless these are totally awesome and very useful in the event you want to use a longer inner barrel on your gun.

DESIGN

The original SWR Wolverine didn’t have this bullet like shape, but it looks very nice this way too. On the surface you’ll find a black matte finish that is quite durable and extremely well finished as in most products from MadBull.

The markings are also very similar as you can see in this photo from Silencerrtests.com.

Now, here is one of the few times that MadBull went a bit away from the original design, but in my opinion it really paid off because it simply looks great on any gun you throw at it.

And one of the nicest things I found was how cool it looks coupled with the MadBull PRI Gen III Round Rail!

CONSTRUCTION

This mock suppressor is a one-piece of high tensile strength aluminum, meaning not only is it strong but also extremely lightweight at only 6oz, or around 170 grams only!

So it’s a breeze to handle your gun with this suppressor as it really doesn’t get in the way and it isn’t heavy enough to change the balance of the gun.

Inside, I found instead of the traditional one piece foam, several discs of foam. Not that it’s much different in the end, but it’s nevertheless an interesting solution.

In the end it’s a very well built, strong and sturdy product, built to last.

INSTALLATION, SHOOTING AND SUPPRESSION

The Wolverine has a counter clockwise thread, so its compatible with most AEG’s out there. Installing the Wolverine is pretty straightforward: all you have to do is remove the flash hider, and screw the Wolverine to your outer barrel just like you would do it with a flash hider.

The SWR Wolverine will have absolutely no influence on your AEG’s performance, like most mock Airsoft suppressors. It won’t mess with your guns FPS nor it won’t muffle the sound produced by the gearbox as you can see in the following video:

An interesting conclusion you can draw after hearing the sound that it produces is that it does change the sound a bit, making it less acute and different, but never less loud.

CONCLUSION

So now that you found out that Santa doesn’t exist and Airsoft suppressors don’t suppress any sound, don’t you think that there’s no magic in Airsoft suppressors because there is. Especially if they are just like this one: well built, great looking and bearing markings.

Also, they can be very useful, and I’ll mention again why: because if you want to have a longer inner barrel on you AEG without going through all the hassle of getting and installing an outer barrel, then a suppressor is simpler and very stylish!

The SWR Barrel Extension 6” WOLVERINE is available from most Airsoft retailers worldwide and it will cost you around $45, around €45.

Pros:

  • Very nice design
  • Great price
  • Quality finish and construction
  • Markings
  • Easy to install

Cons:

  • Less realistic design
