G&G’s M9 Version:: GPM92 GBB Pistol

We were sent the G&G GPM92, a full metal gas blowback airsoft side arm in the style of the Beretta M9. It comes with a new whirl cylinder valve that G&G designed to prevent frost buildup on the valve when the pistol is fired rapidly. Sounds good!

So, how does this stack up?

EXTERNALS

The gun itself comes in a rather tidy gun case with G&G's logo on the front. Opening it we find the gun itself along with its magazine a speed loader and a set of instructions. The case is very sturdy it comes in the same colour as the gun (ours is Tan) and has a nice metal texture that really looks the part whilst offering good protection to the gun itself. The speed loader is a basic speed loader but is a great addition to this “package".

The magazine is all metal and has a nice amount of weight to it. It holds 27 rounds in a double stack configuration. It snaps into the pistol with a satisfying snap and has no rattle or play.

The first thing you will notice about this pistol when you pick it up is the weight, which is 758g when empty and 1037g with the magazine. It feels like you’re holding something special. Ergonomically it feels very comfortable. All the controls are easily accessible with your thumb when holding it --- the magazine release catch, the safety, the slide release and the fully functional hammer are all reachable.

The grip is a diamond pattern texture which gives you a nice firm grip. The grip has polymer side panels which really look the part with their colour is matched to the metal frame with little to no deviation. They are held in place by two screws lending itself to a really authentic look.

The trigger has a long pull but is buttery smooth and very easy to snap off shots at speed. Further along the frame there is a 20mm pistol rail for a torch or laser depending on your style choice. The slide release arm is easy to operate and is held in place tightly with little to no rattle all while being very easy to operate. The safety is ambidextrous, it’s travel is smooth and easy, and features a working hammer drop, meaning if you have the gun cocked and you put the safety on it will safely drop the hammer without discharging the gun, which is not only a very good safety feature but is also realistic like the real steel firearm.

The magazine release is on the left side of the pistol grip and is slightly lower than where your thumb naturally rests meaning there’s a reduced chance of releasing the magazine accidentally, adding to this the actual travel of the release is quite firm, further reducing the chance of accidental release.

The slide has a nice easy travel (when lubricated). It’s very snappy and has a good amount of weight to it so when it is fired it gives a great simulation of recoil. The outer barrel is of metal construction and also has a threaded front end for a silencer for all you specops lovers out there.

Sights are your basic three dot notch sights although I found the white dots on the tan paint to be a little hard to acquire. The slide is serrated towards the rear for ease of use and there is also a lanyard loop on the bottom rear of the grip which is a nice touch.

PERFORMANCE & BREAKDOWN

Firing the pistol gives a satisfactory snap and simulated recoil, it sounds beefy which always makes me smile every time I fire it. You’re going to be getting around 340 fps using 0.20g BBs which will obviously drop off towards the last of the gas in the magazine. It has a wheel style hop up for adjustment.

The gun is easy to break down. It has a press stud on the right hand side of the release with a tab on the other, press the stud and turn the tab and the slide slides off the frame giving you access to the hopup. This gives you the opportunity to clean the inner barrel.

CONCLUSION

All in all this is a superb gun. It feels realistic and looks professional. G&G have done a really great job in designing and making this gun. It feels weighty. The controls are easy to operate and their use is smooth, firing it is satisfying and responsive. The case and speed loader are brilliant additions offering ease and protection.

This gun would be a great addition to a collection and loadout alike. The only thing I would like to see is a change in colour of the site dots on the Tan variant. Due to this minor issue I would rate this gun easily at 4.5 out of 5 stars and would happily purchase this gun.

If you want to add this to your collection you can purchase it over at Patrol Base for £109 at the time of this review.
