Reenacting The Battle of Qala-i-Jangi

OptimusPrime

The Battle of Qala-i-Jangi took place at the height of the US war to dislodge the Taliban from power in Afghanistan, with the support of the British forces and the Northern Alliance. This took place from the 25th of November until the 1st of November 2001 at Qala-i-Jangi a fortress which was converted into a prison for Taliban elements captured by the anti-Taliban forces. An uprising took place within the prison grounds which killed a CIA officer, and the Taliban were literally mowed down from their indefensible positions as Northern Alliance, the British SAS (or SBS?), the US Special Forces, and with overwhelming air support cornered them from their vantage positions.

This was one of the bloodiest battles and the most media-covered battle in the whole of the Afghan war, resulting into the deaths of around 200-400 Taliban fighters, 40-50 killed among the Northern Alliance members, and the lone CIA casualty of the Americans according to Wikipedia.  After the smoke has cleared, it became controversial with some groups accusing the victors of using disproportionate force and the wrong treatment of the prisoners which led to this bloody uprising in the fort. An American citizen, John Walker Lindh, an Islam convert, was captured and shipped back to the US where he was tried for treason. He is known as the "American Taliban."

South West Wargames In association with First & Only Corporate events are now organising an event to reenact this ferocious battle: "“HOUSE OF WAR – 'Battle for Qala-i-jangi'” on the 31st of May - 1st June 2008.

Hosted at a unique site “Scraesdon Fort” is an old Napoleonic Fort that is used by the Royal Marines for CQB training. The site has never been used for an Airsoft event before and is sure to be an amazing and unique Airsoft experience. We have gone all out to provide you with a scenario that compliments the venue and will lead to some great intense and hardcore battle experiences.

Scenario:

The battle for Qala-i-jangi, Afghanistan, November 2001, was one of the bloodiest and intense battles of the Afghan war to date. The uprising of the Taliban, prisoners and subsequent battle with Northern Alliance forces and US/UK special forces was sparked when CIA personnel threatened to kill prisoners while they were interrogating them!

Join the Taliban uprising, overpower the guards and capture the ammo dumps. Arm yourselves and capture the fort. The infidels must pay with their lives – Jihad! Or...

Join the Northern Alliance and US/UK special forces as they try to contain the Taliban forces within the fort, recover the CIA operative and bomb them back to the stone age.

Fighting will be close and intense, the fort has 3 main levels and goes deep underground. It won’t be an easy fight for either side and casualties will be high.

Special features:
The impressive venue, simulated JDAM attack, simulated air support, booby traps, special gaming rules for each side, Royal Marine participation, also included in the price is full catering with an impressive menu, drinks available throughout, rooms to sleeping overnight, and a PARTY on Saturday night with a Live awesome Band and a BAR!
