The news about a new operator that will be introduced in Rainbox Six Siege is not exactly new, it was just a matter of when. With the announcement of the pending release of the Rainbow Six Siege Operation Brutal Swarm, Ubisoft will be releasing Operator Grim and he does pack a punch.

Season 3 of Year 7 will be Operation Brutal Swarm. Operator Grim is Agent Charlie Tho “Grim” Keng Boon from Singapore is an expert in recon, intelligence gathering and survival techniques. With his Kawan Hive Launcher it can be used in gathering enemy movement and deployment. He is an attacker and a member of the Nighthaven Squad that is led by Kalil with Ace, Aruni, Ela, IQ, Osa, Smoke and Wamai as team members.

The Kawan Hive Launcher launches a canister which will unleash as swarm of bee-like bots that will reveal where the defenders by pinging them as they pass through the swarm and will be continuously pinged if they remained within the swarm’s radius which will give the attackers a big advantage during the round. Grim can fire five canisters in a round. As for other armaments, Grim either uses a SIG 552 Commando rifle or the SG-CQB shotgun as a primary weapon. For his sidearm it is the SIG P229 pistol.

An Impact EMP Grenade will be introduced for the new season. As an EMP, the grenade deactivates nearby electronic devices for a short period of time upon impact. This is a third gadget option for these Blackbeard, Montagne, Dokkaebi, Nokk, Gridlock, Sledge, Lion, and Osa.

Recoil has been tweaked for the PC with the following changes:

• Vertical recoil has been reviewed on all weapons and adjusted to match the weapon's expected power level.
• Vertical and horizontal recoil intensity increases during sustained fire bursts. The longer the burst, the stronger the recoil.
• Limits on weapons with strong recoil have mostly stayed the same.
• LMGs and weapons with high capacity magazines now have a 4th stage of recoil that's harder to control.
• Weapons have more attachment options. This feature will be available for both Console and PC.

Whereas before recoil is determined for the PC first then modified for the console, adjustments are now done separately for the gaming consoles.

Other new features are a new penalty for abusive chat which mutes repeat offenders. There will be a grace period so it will be introduced later in the season. Also, players can report cheaters during match replay. The Stadium 2021 map will now become a permanent map.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Brutal Swarm will drop on September 6, 2022.
