Mossberg has consistently proven its commitment to innovation and responsiveness to the needs of shooting enthusiasts as seen in the refined and enhanced 940 Pro Tactical SPX 12-gauge semi-auto shotgun. Building upon the already impressive 940 Pro platform, the SPX incorporates highly sought-after tactical features, solidifying its position as a top-tier tactical shotgun.
The heart of the 940 Pro Tactical SPX lies in Mossberg's redesigned 940 Pro gas-operating system. This system is known for its cleaner operation and enhanced reliability, ensuring smooth cycling, and minimizing malfunctions. The SPX is available in both 8-shot and 5-shot configurations, both featuring 18.5-inch AccuChoke-compatible barrels, offering versatility for various shooting scenarios. Mossberg is launching the SPX with five initial models, catering to diverse preferences, including a Holosun Micro Dot Combo and optional Cerakote finishes for added durability and aesthetics.

A hallmark of the 940 Pro series is its robust construction and corrosion resistance. The 940 Pro Tactical SPX got nickel boron-coated internal components, including the gas piston, magazine tube, hammer, and sear. This ensures reliable performance even in harsh conditions. The cleaner-running gas vent system further contributes to the shotgun's reliability by extending cleaning intervals.
The 940 Pro Tactical SPX retains the standard features that have made the 940 Pro platform so popular. These include an optic-ready receiver for direct mounting of micro dot optics (RMSc footprint), a drilled and tapped receiver for added versatility, an oversized ergonomic bolt release for easy operation, and a knurled and extended charging handle for improved grip. The enlarged and beveled loading port, elongated pinch-free elevator, and bright orange anodized follower facilitate smooth and efficient loading.

Mossberg has incorporated several key updates to elevate the 940 Pro Tactical SPX. A redesigned forend features an integrated heat shield, two QD cups for sling attachment, and three M-LOK mounting slots for accessory customization. The stabilizing barrel clamp also includes two-sided M-LOK mounting slots and swivel studs, further enhancing the shotgun's adaptability.
Sighting enhancements include rear ghost ring and front fiber optic sights with protective wings. The ghost ring sight is easily removable, allowing for direct mounting of micro dot sights. Adapter plates are included for compatibility with RMR, Docter, and Leupold footprints. The redesigned, oversized ambidextrous safety provides intuitive operation for both left and right-handed shooters.

Maintenance and reliability have also been addressed with a redesigned one-piece magazine tube and a detachable sleeve that protects the magazine tube and secures the forend. The magazine spring is retained for easy barrel removal and attachment. The inclusion of a Vang Comp 6-Shell Carrier Card with a removable hook-and-loop system provides convenient on-board ammunition storage.

For added protection and a distinctive look, select models of the 940 Pro Tactical SPX are available with durable Cerakote coatings in Flat Dark Earth and OD Green. This not only enhances the shotgun's appearance but also provides superior resistance to wear and corrosion.
With its combination of proven reliability, innovative features, and tactical enhancements, the Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical SPX stands as a testament to Mossberg's commitment to providing high-quality firearms for the modern shooter. It is a true fighting tactical shotgun, designed for functionality, reliability, and longevity, ready to meet the demands of any situation.
