The trend of releasing compact rifles in PDW, SBR, or Pistol formats continues and Maxim Defense is no stranger to introducing new ones. Its PDX line meets the standards of the special operations community and just at the end of May, the firearms company announced its new MD9 for a more compact weapon that fires the 9mm round.

The MD9 is available in with the Maxim Defense CQB stock or with the pistol brace for one handed shooting and is M-Rax and M-Slot compatible handguard. Made of military grade materials, it has a 5.8” free float barrel, ambidextrous magazine release, ALG Combat trigger, and Radian charging handle and selector.

As for magazines, the MD9 is ready to accept all kinds of Glock 9mm magazines, including the long Glock 19 ones and Glock magazines are plentiful in the market given that is one of the more dominant 9mm pistols in the market.

So far there are no compact Maxim Defense rifles in the airsoft market, and airsoft players have been waiting for a long time to have licensed editions for the market. The last time have heard of one is the VFC Maxim Defense MDX-415 AEG and GBB that was announced four years ago and nothing has been heard of it since.

Both the MD9:905CP with the Maxim CQB brace and the MD9:905CS with the Maxim CQB stock are now pre-order with the wait times of 8 to 10 weeks. They are priced the same at US$1,995.00 with color options being Black and Urban Grey.
