Holosun, the Chinese optics company the airsoft community is familiar with, eventually found a welcome mat in the larger shooting community with their affordable and capable weapon sights that meet their needs. They are known for their red dot sights which are solar powered. Over the years, they have been churning out products that improve upon the earlier releases and have become more reliable to use especially with real steel firearms.

At the SHOT Show 2023, Holosun has introduced an innovative Digital Reflex Sight (DRS) that caught the attention of many at the big trade event for shooting, hunting, and outdoors. The DRS sights either feature Night Vision (DRS-NV) or Thermal Imaging (DRS-TH) which in one small package, may have a hit sweet spot in the shooting community. Even some airsoft players would like to have one of these as Holosun products are budget friendly.

You take a closer look at the Holosun DRS in this video by Roger Barrera of QVO Tactical as he sat down with Holosun to talk about their optics and the DRS during the SHOT Show 2023 (DRS at 5:30):

Both the DRS-NV and the DRS-TH have the company’s LED MRS (Multi-Reticle System) that offers two digital reticle options. The digital sensors have 50 fps (for thermal) or 60fps (night vision) overlay refresh rate. They both have 8x zoom which is welcome so there is no need for an additional magnifier to mount on the weapon. The Multiple Reticle System (MRS) has 65 MOA Circle & 2 MOA Dot; 2 MOA Dot; 65 MOA Circle.

Depending on the model, the DRS are powered either by one or two 8350 Batteries.

The DRS-TH has White Hot, Black Hot, Highlight, Outline, Fusion modes whilst the DRS-NV has aan Internal Video Recording System. As for resolution the DRS-TH has either 256×192 for the DRS-TH /DRS-TH Integrated model or 384×288 for the DRS-TH Pro. The DRS-NV has 1024 × 768px resolution. The window for the models is 1.25 × 0.98 in.

Holosun say that they are looking into release these models either in the third or fourth quarter of 2023. For those planning to budget for the DRS, they can set aside around US$1,100-1,300  for the DRS-NV whilst the DRS-TH is priced around US$2,300.
