The lever action platform has enjoyed a long history of sporting excellence, spanning over 150 years. Continuous advancements in materials, engineering, and manufacturing have consistently improved these rifles. However, the core action mechanism has largely remained unchanged until recently.
Henry Repeating Arms undertook a project to reimagine the lever action mechanism from the ground up. Leveraging modern manufacturing technologies, their design engineers aimed to create a significantly improved rifle. The result of this endeavor is the Lever Action Supreme Rifle (LASR), a groundbreaking innovation from a renowned lever action manufacturer.
According to the company, the LASR represents a fusion of advanced engineering and a commitment to performance. Built upon a foundation of innovative designs, it prioritizes accuracy, reliability, and safety while preserving the classic appeal of lever action rifles.
A key innovation in the LASR is a novel quad bar linkage and slider crank mechanism. This mechanism drives a bolt with a multi-lug rotating face, ensuring positive lockup, efficient extraction, and reliable ejection. Additionally, the innovative internal hammer design seals moving parts, protecting the rifle from the elements and ensuring consistent operation in challenging conditions.
As claimed, the LASR sets a new standard for lever action accuracy. It features a free-floated blued steel barrel capable of sub-MOA accuracy (depending on cartridge and conditions). The .223/5.56 model has an 18-inch barrel, while the .300 BLK model has a 16.5-inch barrel. A match-grade 4-pound trigger, adjustable within 1 pound, further enhances accuracy. The threaded muzzle allows for the addition of suppressors.
The LASR rifle prioritizes marksmanship with its integrated sighting system. Featuring a patented trapezoidal rear sight, adjustable for both windage and elevation using the same tool as the trigger, the iron sights offer precision target acquisition. A robust steel front blade complements this setup. Moreover, the receiver is drilled and tapped, facilitating the easy mounting of optics for those who prefer magnified aiming solutions.
Maintenance of the LASR is said to be straightforward, facilitated by familiar punch pin disassembly. The rifle features elegant American Walnut stocks with diamond checkering for a refined and comfortable shooting experience. Sling swivel studs and a rubber recoil pad enhance its field-ready capabilities.
The LASR boasts ambidextrous controls, including a conveniently located tang safety switch and a patent-pending magazine release. The safety switch maintains the familiar placement for straightforward operation.
The LASR ships standard with a 10-round Magpul PMAG and includes a 5-round limiter for hunting compliance. It is compatible with various MSR-style magazines for increased capacity.
Henry Repeating Arms plans to introduce a diverse range of calibers for the LASR, expanding its appeal to various users, including hobbyists, hunters, and those seeking a self-defense option. The detachable box magazine design offers greater versatility compared to traditional tube magazines.
The Lever Action Supreme Rifle represents a significant advancement in lever action technology. By integrating innovative manufacturing and modern design principles, Henry Repeating Arms has ensured that the lever action platform will continue to be a symbol of sporting excellence and innovation.
